new monitor and graphics

hi this is my firsg thread so:
i have 450pounds to spend and i need a new monitor and graphics to go with as i am using a 8600gt atm i was thinking about getting a 24 inch monitor like:

and a 4870 1gb to go with it but is this the best choice as i am running only a 5000+ black edition oc to 3.2ghz and running 2gb 800mhz ram atm

also i will be using it for playing games like crysis and fear2 and do want to to be able to play for couple of years

Yes to the above
The 4870 1gb is a competent card and works well with the 24".
I have the SM 2443BW (practically the same) and the 4870 and its a cracking combo.
Crysis runs on high(ish) no problem and it blows games like l4d away!
You wont be disappointed. I certainly ain't!

Possibly in certain games but i think that applies more to cards in crossfire and sli.

Wouldn't worry about it to be honest I've got a 3870x2 paired with a 3800+ x2 cpu and it plays everything fine, and your cpu is much quicker.

Depending on what games you play and what O/s you use. 2 gb more ram would give you a good boost in performace for about £20 especially in crysis
