Can't see the point in buying a tft monitor instead of a crt. Except it takes up less room, is that really worth the difference in price. Especially if your not short on room.

Looking to buy new monitor. Also whats the minimum size everyone would suggest going for.

The way to go? As far as i can see the only advantages are the smaller size and possibly it looks better. Personally i could pick up a 20" CRT for 20 quid, a 20" tft would set me back atleast 200 quid. I don't think just because in the future when tft's match crt's and the price drops considerably it's worth buying one now. Surely it would be better to wait.

You listed one of the advantages of a TFT as "it looks better" then dismiss them based on price. Assuming you were referring to the image and not the actual unit, what more important factor is there than this?!

TFTs are now better in every respect except price and response time.

GENERALLY...they are sharper, better colours, take up less space (you won't realise how good this is until you have one), more power efficient and therefore cheaper, don't take ages to switch on, easier on the eye for hours of office work, sure there are more...

Go TFT.

I did mean in how they look not the screen picture quality. I am currently using a tft at the moment, also have a crt monitor. Personally the difference in image quality is minimal if you ask me. Then again I have not got the best eyesight. I was just looking to go a bit bigger, but the cost differences are quite a lot. Even my 19" crt looks like a spec of dust on my desk tbh.

What's the application? Or just general PC stuff?

Sounds like you would be best picking up a nice 21" or 22" CRT. As you say, they are stupidly cheap 2nd hand.

I'm on a 22" CRT and haven't gone TFT yet for a couple of reasons:

1) Fixed resolution - I like to have multiple resolutions for gaming, and would prefer not to run a TFT outside native.

2) Cost. If I get a TFT, it's going to have to be physically larger than my CRT, and they are still quite expensive.
