My friend has purchased a new monitor.

However anything plugged into the HDMI port doesnt work.

However you do get a picture when its being booted on the boot screen.

When windows loads it just goes black and says no signal.

Tried another cable that he knows works and same issue.

Any suggestions?

Monitor is Samsung T24B350
Graphics card MSI 7850 P edition

He said that when he uses the mobo hdmi works fine, graphics card gets no further than bios screen.

Hi there,

So is the monitor working OK with HDMI using the motherboard connection (but not the graphics card)?

If that's the case then it may be a situation where the onboard graphics are being set to override the graphics card. This can usually be fixed by going into the BIOS settings and changing it to prioritse the graphics card. The motherboard manual should have specific instructions for the particular model of motherboard.

If there is any further doubt about the function of the monitor with HDMI, then I would try it with another HDMI device. Something like a laptop, PS3, xbox 360 or blu ray player.
