new monitor flashing white

Hi my friend has a 1 week old pc, the monitor has been working fine till this morning, when its turned on the screen flashes white, ive never heard of this.

its a benq gl2240m

sorry its not flashing white, its a white screen, hes connected it to his sky hd box and its the same, so looks like its a fault.
