new monitor for games with good crt type response times

i assume you mean a TFT then by the subject heading? You don't leave yourself much budget tbh, take a look at the current OcUK range and see if you can narrow the choice down. Look for a model with a low quoted response time, preferrably with a "G2G" response time which will indicate the use of overdrive/RTC which can improve responsiveness

I personaly wouldn't spend so little on a screen. You get what you pay for and if you dont pay enough you wont get a very good screen for it. Specialy not for games and videos.

You could get a 19" 1440x960 widescreen there are quite a few for around £100, or no widescreen at all ofcourse.
A friend of mine brought this, says its ok,
ACER AL1916WAS 19" Wide LCD 700:1 5ms (1440 X 900) Black, Silver Flat Panel Display Monitor
for £109

No monitior for £130 would beat a decent 19" CRT @ 1600x1200 tho.

My 17" TFT philips broke a few months ago, it was nice but cost twice as much when i brought it as the dell 19" crt that ive stolen from my brother.

Thats forgetting the space benefit you get from a TFT, luckly my monitor hangs of the back of my desk and doesnt talk up any more space, I wouldnt want to go below 20" if I got a new one.

CRT performance in which way ?

Response time? or contrast ?

Response time, theres...basically any of the 22" lcd tn-panel overdriven displays. They're not quite as good as CRT's for response but clearly the vast majority of people are happy with them. examples 226bw / new pebbles shame approx £230 whichever

Contrast? some people who like CRT's might never be happy with the overall picture quality but i'm not sure i get this as i prefer the more vibrant colours. Dell2007 seems the pick of the bunch but this is priced approx £250 or maybe slightly more.

For £130 your going to get a basic generic non-overdriven 19" tn panel which is great for reading and browsing and even games to some extent but obviously you get what you pay for as other people here have said.

Maybe keep saving? :D

i guess i'll start saving :)

will do a full re-build early next year and will get a new monitor with the new pc parts.

btw my current monitor is a taxan Vaule vision 1920 tc0 99 19"" crt 5- 6 years old.
