Hi All. I could really do with some help finding a new monitor. I'm currently running a Asus MG279Q (FreeSync Model) off my GTX980Ti system. I want a new monitor but I specifically want something that I can use for gaming but also want to use for my work. I would really like a monitor that could support Picture-By-Picture so I can have my gaming rig running alongside my work laptop. I would like something in the region of a 32-34 inch and support 1440p @ 144hz if possible. I've been searching for a few days now and haven't quite found what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Two points..Avoid any and all VA panels & 1440p doesn't look good on anything more than a 27in monitor, it really doesn't.

I don't know what your budget is but for your requirements I'd go for a 120Hz, 34 inch ultra wide TBH, with a 3440x1440p resolution.

What is the nature of your work exactly? Do you require a high level of colour accuracy? This might steer you more towards IPS. VA will be less accurate, but they aren't terrible, so it just depends what your specific use case is. They also tend to suffer with blurring/smearing and overshoot in games though, but this varies between models.

As Cooper says, if you're looking at 1440p, I'd stay away from anymore more than 27" or 34" Ultrawide (they are the same height and PPI, 34" UW just has more width), as it will appear obviously soft. 34" UW would be my choice if gaming, although you will be hitting the ceiling of what your 980Ti is capable of there.

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. I don't do any colour work but just need my laptop connected to the same screen as my main PC as I use that to connect to my office. Any suggestions with the specific model? It seems like I can find monitors with a decent refresh rate / resolution that don't give me the PbP function and monitors that give me PbP but with poor refresh/resolution.

I've been looking at these:

MSI Optix MAG341CQ - 3440 x 1440, only 100Hz but no PbP
Samsung LC43J890DKUXEN - Only 3840 x 1200, but has the PbP and is 120Hz
Samsung LC34F791WQUXEN - 3440 x 1440, has PbP but is 100Hz

The Samsung LC43J890DKUXEN matches what I want but is a slightly weird resolution so not sure how this will look

The Samsung LC43J890 has a PPI of 93, so that will be noticeably less sharp than the other two, which come in at 109. Something to keep in mind.

It does seem that PbP functionality within a high refresh 1440p monitor is a rare thing though. The Samsung 34" CF791 might be the best compromise. 100Hz is still good, and I doubt you'll be exceeding 100fps very often with a 980Ti at this res, although it depends what games you play of course.
