New monitor for PC and PS4 Gaming.

So I'm looking for a new monitor to replace my current one (a Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC 24") as there's no HDMI inputs on it, and the power socket in the monitor is starting to go. As the thread title says I'm looking to use the monitor for PC and PS4 gaming. Also for movies and work.

I'm looking at the Dell UltraSharp U2414H 24" Widescreen LED Slim Bezel Monitor as I like the look, my current Dell monitor has lasted since 2007, and it has 2 HDMI inputs. Also the display ports might prove handy.

The graphics card I'm using is the SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 (11196-00) if that makes any difference.

So should I get this monitor or is there a better one that you guys think I should go for? Just to note for any suggestions, I want a monitor with 2 HDMI inputs, so I can plug both my 360 and PS4 (when I get it) into it, and I don't want anything larger than 24" really, as it wouldn't fit on my desk :p. Also if anyone has that monitor, to connect it to my speakers I just need a 3.5mm male to male audio cable right? Something like this (as OC doesn't seem to do them). If I decide to hook my PC up to a monitor using the HDMI cable, would this one be OK?

Thanks.

What sort of games do you play? And how frequently? As that'll effect what sort of monitor you should get(colour accuracy vs responsiveness) :)

Also technically they're still competitors ;)

I pretty much play a bit of everything really. :p

Mostly it's 3rd person things like Dead Rising, Assassins Creed Black Flag, Dark Souls and Warframe though I also like the occasional FPS game.

Also as to how often I'd be playing games on it - it kinda depends really, but I guess every 1-3 days at most? I'm more likely to read a book or something on my monitor most days to be honest. <_<;; I just want something that will play games and let me watch iPlayer and look good, with no noticeable ghosting, while doing it. And have the correct ports for me to actually attach things to it too :p.

Thanks.

Bare in mind that the response time of that monitor is 8ms, not much of a big deal to me but if response time is a concern to you, you may want to go for something else.

Sometimes the asus mx279h drops to £130 on Amazon, I have that monitor atm, picture quality is beautiful.

On the one hand that mx279h monitor looks nice (I really like the slim/no bezel look and the metallic finish) and it's always nice to have a rec from someone actually using the monitor.

On the other hand though, while you said it goes on sale fairly often, I'm not sure I want to wait for the price to go down to something I would want to pay (I'm budgeting about £200ish for a new monitor... which I probably should have mentioned in the first post now that I think about it <_<;; ) Also, there doesn't seem to be an audio out line for that monitor, which is a problem as as far as I can tell the PS4 sends audio over the HDMI cable, and I need someway to get the audio from the monitor to my speakers.

Can't link to it just now, but the slim bezel ips panel dell 24" monitor that ocuk sells looks rather nice ;) or you could go down the 144Hz route and get one of the aoc ones (I'd probably go for the £200 one)

Can't link as the main site crashes my phones internet app :(

I got the U2414H a couple of weeks ago for my xbox and I really like it. Picture quality is spot on using the srgb setting, low input lag and I'm no expert but don't notice any blur.

Good review on tft central.

I was going to buy a 144hz monitor but in the end kept my qnix for pc and got the dell for the console.
