New monitor headache!

hey guys,

so im trying to decide what monitor to get. i bought a cheap acer 23" ips monitor last nov because at the time i couldnt afford to go 1440p like i wanted, due to shelling out on a new rig at that same time.

i caught wind of the new rog swift early in the year and thought that would be the one for me, although i did/do have concerns about a TN panel now that i have had an ips.

anyway, im wondering now whether others would be more suited to me. i see that you can buy 4k for less than the rog, and of course that new acer 4k g sync is on its way.

im not very clued up on monitors so im hoping you gentleman can advise me!

- hard to say at this point obviously but how much of a difference is this rog swift panel going to be from an ips? i do like the colours and im not not a hardcore fps gamer either so its not like im hugely bothered about input lag. that said though, i do enjoy fps games fairly often.

- i have 2 evga superclocked 780's am i going to struggle with 4k @60fps? im assuming so.

basically i want a bigger monitor and i want it to be at least 1440p so what do you guys recommend? :)

If you can afford the premium the asus rogue swift 1440p then I say go for it. Imho 4k is too early for most and not everyone has the gpu grunt to run 4k. Next year after the 800 series releases then it might be worth going 4k. Until then it's a waste of money.

okie dokie, yeah i was thinking that 4k may be too much even for 2 780's. im one of those that has to have everything on max :p

in fact im a tad concerned that even 1440p might be a bit of a struggle with some games.

rog swift is the best contender atm is it guys? the tn panel is the only thing that im worried about... and well, it is a bit expensive but i dont mind the price tag IF its nothing short of brilliant

We shall see if its any good at the end of the month (hopefully). If its nothing short of amazing I will be returning mine. Bare in mind its an 8-bit TN Panel + 3D, plus it supports 3d at 1440p.
2 780s will smash 1440p easy.

yeah im close to pulling the trigger on the pre order. it does sound impressive.
the reason i feel apprehensive about the panel is because i have no real life comparison of an 8 bit tn vs an ips. also the matte screen too, i have a gloss monitor which i like.

the g-sync seems appealing to me too because i nearly always get screen tearing!

enable v-sync if you don't want to get screen tearing.

g-sync is pretty expensive right now, prolly not really worth unless you got the cash spare and nothing better to spend it on.

I do lol. I just meant that it was an appealing feature.

I cant say ive looked the cost of g sync tbh
