My employer has offered to buy me a new monitor as my christmas bonus. By doing it this way, I can squeeze a bit more from them than if It was cash. (Vat, depreciation etc..)
If this sounds familiar, it was supposed to happen last year, but something cropped up.
So, I am very tempted by the Dell 2007WFP. Reading on these forums, it seems widescreen is the way to go and the Dell ticks all the boxes.
But........
Looking at the viewing areas, am i right in thinking that a 20" widescreen would have about the same vertical viewing area as my 19" crt ? If thats the case, i am concerned that at native res, the text size would be a bit small for me and the missus, as it would be similar to running 1280x1024 on my crt, virtical pitch wise. (Are you still with me)
Now, as much as the specs on the Dell really appeal to me, this is putting me off, and i am thinking a 22" may be better. But then I have to go for a TN.
I am quite disappointed with the 1908FP`s we have at work. No matter what i do, the top of the screens are most definately darker than the bottom. I bought Ultrasharps for the supposedly better panels.
Other than the OcUK 24", the rest of the decent 24" are out of my price range, and after follwoing the DGM thread closely, I feel i may not be 100% happy with the quality.
Gaming wise, i play sports/driving mostly, VT3, PES, TW, Sega Rally, Dirt etc. Although I am a big fan of Splinter cell and I was really impressed with the Crysis demo and may give it a go.
So, given the Samsung lottery, poor reports on the LG`s, HP`s poor warranty, whats left?
I notice that NEC do a 22", but its pricy. Is it worth it? There is also the IIyama.
For those with 22" screens, what have you bought and why? Are you satisfied. Should i just get the Dell and just increase the font size?
If it helps, I sit about 3-4 feet away from my screen. Max people viewing would be 2.(Which would be me & my younger bro kicking my a*** at PES)
