New monitor help needed please flexible budget

Hi all,

So I'm looking for a new monitor for mainly gaming but also general use so not really looking at curved. Was thinking 1440p 24-27" 144hz min. Budget can be 200-600 as long as it's worth the price tag really. Anyone got any suggestions?

27" should be minimum unless hard capped by physical space limitations.
Even if you can compensate 24" smaller size by moving it little closer for same effective size, that shorter distance is harder for you eyes.
(focusing to closer distance is more stressfull for the eye)
Also monitor selection of 24" size is poor.


This MSI would be one of the top choises in 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitors:
MSI 27" MAG274QRF-QD 2560x1440 IPS Quantum Dot 165Hz 1ms FreeSync/G-Sync Widescreen LED Backlit Gami= £498.95
Response times are very fast and also contrast of AU Optronics panel is very high for IPS, unlike substandard contrast of LG's 27" 2560x1440 "Nano-IPS" panel.
Also AdobeRGB covering colour gamut is very wide giving punchy colours for games.

G273QF would be basically older version of the panel with DCI-P3 gamut.

Though stand lacks basically all adjustments.

Again 32" size has less competition in 2560x1440.
Though that size LG's Nano-IPS panel (DCI-P3 gamut) has normal for IPS contrast.

Yeah that msi one has come up on my searches, I'm also stuck on 27max. I don't have much space :3. I was looking at the Samsung g50a flat version and I think a few Alienware (I know they love overpriceing their stuff) keep popping up. I'll have a look at what you linked, thanks for that :)

That monitor has some of the worser viewing angles for IPS.
And gamut is old "lowest common denominator" sRGB of low end monitors.
So basically some low end panel with brand overprice sticker on it.

Would definitely keep £500 as hard sensible price limit for 2560x1440 monitor.
(for OLED I would give some leeway if they were available)

Ah fair, loads of people were taking about the odessy range, seems the flat ones are not that great though. Every monitor I find that's 1440p seems to have it's list of cons so it's not as easy as I thought it would be XD

Every LCD has automatic list of cons:
Non-perfect response times, limited contrast, viewing angles...

LCDs simply should have been replaced by self emissive pixel tech years ago.
Actually CRT's problems (size+curved surface) eliminating display tech was demoed in CES 15 years ago.
But patent trolls and financial crisis stopped its development, which never picked up again courtesy of OLED hype.

i did always wonder what caused that, just never looked into it is all :3
 
You could have a look at the Dell AW2721D (G-SYNC, 240hz, 1440p, 27inch, IPS) at the top end of your budget. Is currently available for £605.98
