New monitor needed as part of an upgrade, advice please

Hi, having just gone from a 24" to monitor 27", go 27" far better all round save the money up other a few weeks if you have to.

Oldphart, which 27" did you purchase please

Right even though l bought a Samsung S27B971D 27", a 27" monitor is far better far less eye strain so not as tiring. Its easier to concentrate depending what you are doing, better gaming and general viewing.

I was using a BenQ GW2450HM 24" Widescreen LED Professional Monitor - Black not a bad all round monitor . But had a bit money put by and was considering a BenQ GW2760 27" Widescreen LED Flicker-Free Multimedia Slim Bezel Monitor - Black.

As l read the review on TFT Cenral for the BenQ "27" All in all the GW2760HS did feel like a positive improvement in the 27" VA market with some of the new changes made here. While VA panels don't suit everyone, they certainly hold their place in the market and remain very cost effective at the same time. Well worth a look if you've got your eye on a 27" VA panel.

The only reason l got the Samsung 27" was all my family chipped in and bought it for my Xmas prezzy. If not l would have gone for the BenQ 27" a couple of my friends have 27" monitors and would say its about the right size for all round computing.

Thanks for the suggestion though a little more than £15 :P

Will keep it in mind,as said i want something that is good for photo editing and also good for FPS gaming. It seems most monitors in the market are either one or the other except maybe the EIZO Foris FS2333 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-005-EO&groupid=17&catid=1425

also though having a 27" sounds awesome i cant help but feel concerned that it could be too big for FPS based on peripheral vision?

Hi, 27" no problems FPS with peripheral vision its much better than 24" for gaming". l sit about 24" from the 27" the same when using the 24" monitor and can see past both ends +top/bottom of the monitor.

l do a bit photo shop and the BenQ was fine download a better profile for the BenQ 24" from TFT Central

Don't get the top bit " little more than £15, BenQ 27"? is £215.99 and you have at least £200.

What ever monitor you get enjoy your new PC.:)

I seem to be repeating myself a lot today :-)

Unfortunately i am going to ask you to spend £39 more than you budget.

if you are as mentioned playing FPS games, the G2460PQU, 144Hz, 1ms, all the inputs, height adjust, usb ports will be a welcome addition

You will not get a monitor that does both jobs great, LED provides the fast response times and IPS provides the vibrant colours to enable you to see on the screen what will come out of the printer instead of getting 2 very different images.
