Currently have a Samsung 226BW, but getting fed up with it - squealing and too bright a power LED for my liking. So it's getting replaced, after all it's served it's time. :p

Not really wanting to up the screen size - 22" is nice for me, and the 1680x1050 resolution suits me perfectly. I do basic Photoshopping (but not enough to splash out lots of ££££!), some gaming, plenty of web browsing and watching films.

I don't want to much more than £175, but I do want a monitor that will see me right for a good few years.

Based on your uses, preferences and budget I would suggest have a look in the MM for the guy selling his Dell 2209WA (22in, E-IPS panel, 1680x1050, low input lag, good responsiveness). Alternatively, you can also find refurbished versions of this monitor with guaranteed zero dead pixels for your budget.

If you want something new then the Dell U2311H is a really nice monitor to go for. It is a bit over budget, but imho the quality is worth it as you get an E-IPS panel that is also responsive enough to play games with (just like the 2209WA). Here is an in-depth review.

Just realised that the 1920x1080 resolution is for 16:9, and 1680x1050 is for 16:10 ratio! So really, the dot pitch size is just the same is it?

The dot pitch on the u2311h is slightly smaller (0.265mm vs 0.282mm for the 2209WA) but the difference isn't huge.

One thing that would be worthwhile is having a search on these forums for "u2311h" and "2209WA" and see what people think of them.

My Samsung 226BW is now at the point where it takes a few attempts before it powers on. Press the power button at initial power-on, and it goes off - rinse and repeat 3-4 times before it stays on. So I need a new monitor before this refuses to turn on altogether!

Nothing has changed what I want spec-wise. Want a 16:10 ratio, 22" size (23-24" possible, but no bigger), budget is £200 max.
