I am thinking of buying one of the Acer Predator 27"/28" monitors probably the ACER Predator XB281HKBMIPRZ

I would like one that does 4K even though currently i would not be using is because my GPU cant do it. I may even choose to "forever" use 1080p because a lot of software that i use does not scale 4k well

so i do need something that works with 1080p but like the option of higher resolutions in the future? If i bought a 4K display but used a 1080p-only capable monitor how would it perform? I read somewhere that it only performs at 24hrz is that right?

So it would scale down to 1920/1080p nicely because that is a "standard" resolution?

I would not be gaming on 4K just using video editing and software like that and like i said i may not even use the 4K for years but the price difference isn't much

I would be using two displays the monitor and my 40" TV so curved kind of goes against that scheme

The specs says that only the display port is 60hrz; so if i use a HDMI to DP convertor would it still be 60hrz at 1080p since I want to avoid 24hrz

Thanks

Thats exactly what i am thinking too; for the next year or so i would simply want to use the 1080P resolution but want to be sure it would run correctly and crisp with 60hrzs using a DP to HDMI convertor since most 4k displays only have HDMI at 24hrz

Then in the future when i upgrade my PC instead of having to buy a new 4K display i can simply use a 4K cable
