Hi everyone,

Currently have a Benq XL2411T and want to upgrade to something either bigger or better (IPS instead of TN?)

What monitor would you recommend me to go for with a £300 budget?
PC is: i5, GTX970.

Play: CS:GO, Quakelive, Starcraft 2, Heroes of the storm and obviously want to try some more demanding games now with the GTX970.

I was thinking to go 4k as the usual games I play are not very demanding and I could also use the monitor for my work retina-mac.
Alternatively, some bigger IPS based but still good response time/refresh for gaming.

Any ideas?

Ok, If you are coming from a really fast paced monitor like the XL2411T and moving to a much slower IPS monitor, I am not sure you are going to be happy, especially as you play twitch shooters. If you are a pretty competitive gamer, 60Hz IPS monitors really do suck compared you what you have.

When you say you want to upgrade to better what exactly are you looking for? Are you just looking for bigger? or do you want better picture quality? Or do you just feel the need for an upgrade?

The dell that Peabody has linked to is probably the best 60Hz IPS monitor for gaming. The BenQ you have listed has bad input lag which you would really notice after coming from the XL2411T.

Ok, this is the kind of stuff I wanted to figure out.
Although initially I thought I will sell my current Benq, I think I will keep it as a second monitor for FPS games and play the RTS on the new monitor. Is that viable?

so to sum up, definitely 1440p, ideally 27 inch sub 350 quid.
what are my options if not that Benq?

Would this work if I increased my budget?

BTW, where is the input lag specified? Or is that something only tested and available on TFT Central in the reviews?
What I don't get is that the dells seem to be at 8ms where Benq says theirs are 4ms.

I was going to mention the 27" dell but i don't think its worth the extra £100 over the 25" which has the exact same 1440p resolution.

Different manufacturers have different ways of measuring response times so that why there is a difference.

Tft central is a good place to read about stuff like that yes and the dells tend to have generally low input lag anyway.

they are a bit pricey on OCUK, I admit. I don't understand why the 25 inch is priced fair, but the 27 inch seems to be overpriced compared to the rest of the online.

Of course it is viable, but maybe it might be more viable to sell the BenQ you have now and put more money towards a new monitor. Or sell it after to get a new monitor.

Again though it depends on you.

If you do want to go the route of playing your fast twitch games on your current monitor and play other games and work on your new monitor then the BenQ you listed first is fine. Or maybe stretch a bit and get the 32 inch version

Which gets really good reviews. And the one I would go for in your case.

That's not a bad idea actually.
I have one problem which I need to solve: price is one. I can get the monitor expensed as a work monitor but only up to 350, and when I leave the company I will have to give it back. So ideally, need to keep it at 350.

I did find that Benq and though it looked great, I wasn't sure how that same resolution looked though on 24/25 inch and then 27/28 or 32. Surely the quality because of the dotpicth is better on smaller screens?

LE: I've just read there are a lot of problems with those panels in that Benq, and with them generally of late so I think I will move onto Dell.
