So my laptop's screen completely died and I bought a 24" 1080p monitor.
My laptopls native res was 1366x768 so even though I am running desktop @ 1080p I play my games fullscreen @ 768p, however I am experiencing massive lags, like I was playing 1080p or 900p. How come? I am using a VGA cable supplied with the monitor while I wait for hdmi->dvi-d and Haribos :/
Laptop's an old eMachines E730G with i3-350M @ 2.27 GHz, 6 GB of RAM and a HD 5470M 512MB.
Killing Floor for example would run at 40-60 fps, while now it doesn't even push 30, Terraria is lagging as well, didn't try anything else, these two are easiest on my laptop from what I play.
Edit: running desktop at 768p also. No difference in game fps.
