Hi Folks,

For years now I have use a Dell 1920 x 1200 as my main monitor with 2 4:3 Sony 19 inchers either side. I work from home so 90% of the time this is being used to have multiple office programmes running.

One of the sony monitors has died so time to change one. As both of the others are long in the tooth there is no point in trying to match. They are both still very good though and the Dell excellent.

I am thinking an ultra wide screen for the middle monitor with the other two to the sides. Clearly not very matchy but a lot of screen.

Something like this:

Good move or better off going 4k?

Mostly work but want to enjoy some gaming too. I have overclocked 2500k and an old 6950 unlocked to 6970

I could change GPU if necessary for gaming and have plenty of space / PSU capacity.

I want to order today from ocuk but don't want to think about it too much so give me a steer please!

Budget is flexible but ideally not more than 400

The Dell 1200p monitors work very well in portrait mode.

If you're going ultra-wide, go for the 3440x1440 monitors. Your GPU is going to give very disappointing results gaming at both that resolution and 4K, but a r9 390 or GTX 970 will do you just fine.

For pure office work, an IPS 4K monitor is actually an excellent choice, as long as all your applications support font scaling. You will have a qualitatively much better experience. Text will look much nicer. You can still game on your 1200p monitor.
