I am looking at a new monitor but my budget is limited not more than 600 maybe 800 at a push. I have a 4k tn panel monitor at the moment but I guess the question is what is better. 1440P WITH IPS GSYNC 144hz refresh rate or a 4k ips gsync limited to 60hz. I cannot find a monitor with 4k 144hz gsync IPS that is affordable so is it worth going down to 1440P and will it provide better visuals. I'm told tn displays lack depth of color I am running 1080ti and I do play some games in 4k with a view to upgrading to 2080ti end of the year.

I used 16:9 1440p 27" for like 5 years, but after a month with an ultrawide, I cant see myself going back, only minor pain in the bum is the poor support for old games in 21:9 but you can always use those in 16:9 with black bars on the sides.

The Acer Nitro 4K has Gsync-compatible Freesync and is IPS and 144 Hz.

I have both. Some games - like driving games - work better on the UW, others on 4K. Hell, if you look at Command & Conquer 3, some maps work best on my 4K landscape, some on my UW, and some on my 4K portrait!

Good man!
