hi i currently have a benq fp241w but am considering getting a dell ultrasharp u2410, i've had my current monitor 4 years, reason for changing is when i have a gaming session and finish it seems to have image retention and won't disappear unless i don't game for a few days

hi yes wondering is it good and is it worth upgrading

It is a good monitor, however it is wide gamut, so colours in games, films etc. will look over-saturated, however some people prefer that. Personal preference really. It's generally regarded as perfectly fast enough for gaming, so nothing to worry about there. I know a lot of people had issues with a green/pink tint, but I don't know if this has been solved with later revisions.

Whether it's worth it depends on you really. If you're happy with your current monitor apart from the image retention, and it's still in warranty, try and get it replaced under warranty. If you're looking for an upgrade anyway, what sort of budget do you have? What size do you want? Are you interested in 3D? Do you want/need an IPS panel? etc.

hi don't think its in warranty as i've had it for 4 years, needs to be 24" 1920x1200 don't really matter what the panel is as long as its good enough for gaming and i'm not interested in 3d, i'm really happy with my current monitor apart from the image retention, if i could prevent it while gaming i would happily keep it

I have heard there are ways to remove image retention, however I don't know what these are. Google would be your friend there.

If you do end up upgrading, you don't have a massive amount of choice in terms of 1920 x 1200 monitors. Most these days are IPS panel as far as I'm aware, which isn't a bad thing. For general use, I've heard good things about both the Dell U2410 and the HP ZR24w. I even looked at the HP myself.

The HP has a standard gamut panel so will be more suitable for games and such, but not as good as the Dell for photo and colour critical work (someone correct me if this isn't strictly true :D). In terms of warranty, I've heard good things about both Dell and HP. Dell offer a zero bright pixel next day swap warranty. Pretty sure it's the same thing with HP.

that's my problem there's not many 1920 x 1200 monitors about nowadays, colour critical doesn't matter as it's only for gaming, web browsing and watching internet streams
