With my current primary monitor on its way out (Has issues waking after being switched on). I'm on the hunt for a new monitor. I've been trawling the forums looking for all sorts of insights into the state of the market.

I've currently got a 20" samsung Syncmaster 2053BW and I've recently upgraded to a GTX570 so looking for a bit of leap to take advantage of it.

I would prefer to limit my budget to around £150 and I'm thinking between 22" and 24".

I tend to use it for gaming mainly occasionally photoshop etc, what i want to know is would i really notice the difference going for a IPS monitor over a TN?

thanks

The answer to your question is probably not that much if your using it for gaming.

This is not a bad monitor if you want to stick to your budget:

YOUR BASKET
1 x LG D2342P 23" Passive 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black with Assassins Creed PC Game £161.99
Total : £173.99 (includes shipping : £10.00).

If you are a serious gamer though you might be better getting a monitor that is 120Hz,
as I just got the one in my sig and I wouldn't have any other monitor now it makes so
much difference its silly.

I'd opt for an IPS panel, like the Dell U2312HM. It's slightly above your budget but it's one of the most important parts of a computer. I hate the colour/contrast shift on the vertical plane with TN-panels, though there is no denying they have better response times - especially with 120Hz panels.

I noticed a huge difference going from a 22" TN-panel to a 24" IPS-panel with quality (ignoring the obvious increase in size).

thanks for the reply, im not sure i can stretch to the 120mhz. with the above monitor, would the 2d performance be up to scratch or does it sacrifice for the 3d features?

I dont really have that much to take advantage of 3D yet, although it always worth planning ahead :)
