New monitor?

Hello I've managed to actually get hold of the parts to build a new PC but now my old 1080p monitors are lacking.

I want something with a high refresh rate with nice viewing angles and colours. I'm using a 1080p 32 VA panel atm whilst not as bad as it sounds it's defiantly too big for 1080p.

I've got a 5600x with a RX 6800 to power it, I assume 4K is still too demanding to get high FPS in modern games. 1440p looks like a better balance between resolution and FPS?

Anyway there is so much choice now IPS, VA ,HDR, 240hz, any suggestions, budget is about £500?

I don't know whether the early issue of (flickering?) has been fixed with this monitor, however, it looks like a tasty option:

I can only make an assumption but from the reviews I've seen, I'd say a 6800 (non-XT) should be fine for a majority of titles at 4K, though most/if not all screens will be beyond your budget anyway.

A couple of other screens here which might be worth keeping an eye on:

I'm sure other folks on here can make some informed suggestions for you. :)

I got the LG GL850-B and with a 3080 and it's a perfect match. I don't see the point in 240hz personally as you will hit that in very few games at 1440p max settings. I prefer IPS but there are downsides to it too like poor contrast and IPS glow. Hardware unboxed made a video detailing some of the best monitors on the market recently I would give it a watch.

Besides very high to extreme GPU demands i nheavier games, better 4K gaming monitors have just started to come out with little choise and high prices.
LG 27GN950 is about the first more serious attempt with good modern response time panel etc.

2560x1440 is again "mature resolution" with really lots of competition at good prices.
Actually starting from around £300.

If you prefer dimmer lightning or fully darkened room, then VA type LCD has the advantage in way highest contrast.
But they're not without "challenges" in viewing angles/colour stability and unevenness of response times with sluggish to slow darkder shade transitions.

IPS achieves consistent response times making it better for normal room lightning use.
For best response times in such environment monitors using LG's "Nano-IPS" panel would best choises.
LG's own 27GL850 is 144Hz model.

But same panel using Dell S2721DGF and Lenovo Y27Q-20 achieve 165Hz.
