I'm thinking about upgrading my 4k 60hz monitor as i feel it's not making the most of my system. Is it worth sticking with 4k but with better HD/Hz? I could be tempted by a 1440p monitor but i do have a i12700k/3090 set up and would like to make the most of it.

If budget isn't a concern the only monitor I would be looking at right now is the Alienware QD-Oled.

Is it only a monitor you can accomdate? As another alternative that's good value is picking up an Oled tv. You can get last years models for dirt cheap now, and you get 4k 120hz, perfect for a 3090.

I'm still using an E9 from 2019.

I appreciate not everyone wants to game on a big tv though.

A middle ground could be a 42" Oled.

What budget do you have as at the minute I'm recommending things close to a grand.

Up to a grand, but obviously cheaper is better.

Do you game at a distance when playing on the e9? I have a 65'' C9 and i've used my pc on it once and the HDR/image was brilliant. My pc is currently in a box room so a tv would probably be a bit too much but i'm thinking about moving my gaming set up into a double room which will give me more space and probably make gaming on a tv more comfortable.

I'm about a metre and a half away. I tend to use an xbox controller to game on so for me it's just like gaming on a console. When I use the PC to browse I' use a media keyboard with built in trackpad.

I'm not sure I'd use a tv if I was using a keyboard and mouse.

I'm sure people were buying the alienware monitor for under a grand.

The Alienware is £1100 but there were was a good 25% off with code stacking on release.

I've got one on order, the only other thing I'd consider is the 42" LG C2 OLED at the moment.

I might stay away from the monitor for now then.

I mainly game with an xbox controller but i do play a lot of rust as well which is KB&M only, but i could keep my monitor and set it up in the same room and switch between them depending on what i'm playing.

Forgetting my perhaps ridiculous to some recommendations for a TV, if I was buying a monitor I'm not sure I'd buy a 4k one.

The hardware isn't there yet, and likely won't be with the next cards to run 4k high framerates with ray tracing (unless you use DLSS). So I'd personally go for a 1440p monitor.

Dell do an Alienware with 1440p resolution and 240hz and there's the Asus Monitor too (PG279QM) with a very high refresh rate.

What sort of games do you play? If it's mainly single player console like games spending large sums on a high refresh monitor is probably wasted as anything above 120hz is aimed at competitive shooters in my opinion.

edit: ignore the below the A1 is 60hz and no hdmi 2.1

Sorry for the double post, and not sure if we can link but Very are doing a 48inch A1 oled for £649?

Perfect blacks, 4k 120hz, gsync and freesync (should you ever change graphic cards to AMD at some point)

I still can't believe you can pick up an oled at that price. I remember years ago when they were thousands of pounds.

The main games that i'm currently playing at the moment are Rust, Destiny 2, Cyberpunk, PUBG & Forza 5.

Does the A1 have a low refresh rate? Also120hz is definitely enough for me.

Ah really sorry I've ballsed up. It's the A1 that is 60hz and doesn't have HDMI 2.1. SO not worth considering. Sorry for the wrong information.

It would be the C1 you'd need to look at
