Midway has just announced info about the new mortal kombat game, sounds like it could be fun.

Today, Midway Games confirmed what had been rumored for a while: the first next-generation Mortal Kombat title, up until now called "Mortal Kombat 8" by the community, is officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. As the title suggests, it will be a crossover with the characters and setting of DC Comics. Further information about the game should be forthcoming.

In the meantime, a source within Midway sent us this image, which is the first promotional image from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe; it features two of the characters from the game: Sub-Zero and Batman.

Was Mortal Kombat actually ever a good game?

I loved 3 on the Mega Drive but playing it now its really really rubbish. I think the Gore impressed me at a young age. The Mortal Kombats of the last generation I found pretty bad so I'm not going to hold out hope for this.

EDIT - Just looked at the picture, thats quite cool.
 
Mortal Kombat has been terrible since I played Mortal Kombat 2 :(

Every game that has come out in recent times has been appauling. I hope this one bucks the trend.

When it's on it's 8th title.........

Absolutely shocking. Desperate for idea's, first games relied on a shock factor which it no longer has, and not for it to include DC heroes.. awful.

Hmmm... What about Pro evo. Mario. Zelda. Metal Gear is on its 5th (there was metal gear on ancient systems, before it turned to MGS... well technically 6 because of online). Don't forget of course Half life 2 (with all the addons especally).

As long as they keep improving it, I don't mind :)

I even forgot the amount of sequels Street Fighter has. And don't forget GTA.
 
Mortal Kombats all ways had its own serious universe and lore though its stupid mixing it with superman and batman! lol What next Aliens movies with Predators in them! MADNESS!
 
Its kind of odd that DC are apparently happy to subject their IP to the mortal Konbat treatment. I wonder if there is some DC suit somewhere who signed the deal, unaware that the game will see Wonderwoman getting her boobs ripped off and made into a hat by Johnny Kage or Green Lantern's intestines extracted and baked into a pie for Rayden's wife.
