Up a Tree...
hello,

i have had a lot of problems in the last 3-4 weeks with my pc,
and i have gone through 3 motherboards and 2 psu's...
taken everything appart 20-30times...

so im thinking just to RMA some of the stuff, which i cannot get to work, then selling my other parts and go for a new build. (intel E6600)

i have two raptors 74gb in RAID, which have been split into windows xp pro and windows vista, i dont wish to do a clean install with the new intel stuff.

but im using AMD 4400+
and i cannot afford to loose all my data on the harddrives aswell as 2 others that are in there, if i get half a new system... i could still manage to get RAID? running on the new board? and wont loose all my work.
and windows install...

thats my main concern :/
as i didnt get a chance to back all the data up aswell i been a AMD fan for ages, but my 939 stuff and motherboard is doing my head in!!!

will i be ok with my windows install on my previous motherboard?

sorry for the noobie, question, as i never really kept it before for another build (allways started fresh...), not sure if i can do it ok...

Nine times out of ten it won't like it and you'll be lucky to be able to get anywhere near Windows. I know the few times I've tried I just get a very quick glimpse of a BSOD and then restart.

Trouble is, even if you uninstall your old drivers for your old motherboard, Windows still installs its own drivers for the more low level stuff, and its this that causes problems

Try it mate, but even if it does work, I do highly recommend a fresh install as you could experience stability/performance issues later down the line

problem is though i cant afford to loose some of my work on there,

the raptors are in RAID, but in a partition...
what if i installed windows on another harddrive.. that would be ok, i then just try and salvage my work once i connect them and get into windows on the new on?

Yes thats fine.

going to have to get a spare harddrive to install windows so i can get my work from it, then wipe the raptors as they would be a lot better for windows install on it.

i just hope i dont loose it all, i cry if i do :(

plus its annoying as i had so many programs and software installed all working nice, and now I'll have to spend days installing it all again :(
