I am looking for a new motherboard to overclock with after me old one gave way without me even overclocking at all. I was using a EVGA 650i Ultra board but i ain't sure i want to be using it again now. The motherboard has got to be capable of running my Q6600 and would be nice having support for SLi incase i decide to invest in the future, but let me know of any motherboard that would be good for this as the SLi isnt always necessary

I recommend avoiding SLI....single GPU setups are plenty powerful for a 20.1'' monitor and the nvidia chipsets are lacking in a number of things in my opinion.

I recommend a X38 based board...or if you ahve a little more to spend I recommend looking at the DFI X48-T2R which will be released any day now.

You will normally find that by the time you decide to go SLI there is a faster single card solution available so although SLI is a nice luxury it really isn't of much consequence unless you get SLI straight away.

Intel based chipsets are getting higher overclocks on average than their Nvidia counterparts so I would look towards a p35 or x38 if you are looking to buy immidiatley or wait a couple of weeks for p45/x48 to start to surface but bear in mind there is little benefit in going x48 over x38 even though there will no doubt be a price premium for early adopters. The P35 based chipsets have very mature bios's now so will cause little problems and for single card users there isn't a better overclocking chipset around atm.

ok, well is there any manufacturers that you would know of to stay away from cause normally i just got asus but at the time there wasnt an asus board that matched the price i got the evga board for.

Asus, Abit and gigabyte (if you you can stomach the colour!) are all good manufacturers and you won't go far wrong with them.

dont care about the colour i dont spend much time looking at it :P it is inside a case and it doenst have a windowed side :)
