hi i have another thread in the graphics dept about my xfire setup and the temps are very hot,the reason for this is that my mobos PCIE slots are extremely close to each other.
Is there a mobo that have PICE slots quite far apart not like my Gigabyte UDR3

Picture to show how close cards are:

I need a mobo that is not like the pic when you have 2 gpus installed

I was going to crossfire these in my UD3R but was concerned about the spacing. The Foxconn Bloodrage board which sells on this site seems to have 4 x PCI-E. Can you confirm your board runs xfire at x16 and x16 for the 2 hd 5870 for my own benefit

Have you tried it with one of the crossfire connectors instead of 2?

What are the temps when just the one card and when in Xfire?

Its a good price for the board, my temp with the one card goes to 77% (in crysis beand then the fan increases to 30% to cool it down. How did it compare in Xfire performance compared to single card in 3d vantage, benchmarks etc?

i never ever use benchmarks im afraid all i can tell you is that performance is blistering in all games that support xfire.

ie: if you play stalker clear sky, i can run it at 1980 by 1080 res
all settings completely maxed out and all settings on high and its as smooth as butter.

no other cards i had could even come close to that inlcluding my old gtx 285s sli

Did you try swapping the cards round? I think the spacing is the same for the pci slots for the ud3r and the ud5r.
no as that would solve nothing they are both the same cards so temps would be no different, its the UD3s layout of the PCIE slots thats the problem, all Gigabyte x58 range look all the same to me with the PCIE slots.

I was worried about the temps being high and was probably going to change the hd5870 for a more powerful single slot card in the future.
