Hey all,

I'm thinking about getting the Asus P5QL Pro from OcUK just after Christmas. However i was wondering will the stock CPU Cooler i have on the Motherboard i am using now, fit on the P5QL because the stock cooler does not have a backplate?

Thanks in advance...

Stock cpu coolers don't tend to have backplates, just push pins. Make sure that the cpu matches the socket that you're putting it into.

If you are using the stock cooler then it just uses the standard Intel push pin fittings which do not need a backplate.

Take a look at the terrible position of the 24pin connector on that board though. The Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L would be a better bet.

Oh wow, i have not noticed that until now... lol, that defiantly is a horrible place to put the 24pin connector, guess i will not be buying that one, only because i love my wire management...

Also my stock cooler has screws... so i am not entirely sure what you mean by push pins...

Here is is, you see there are 4 screws... Thinking about it, i was so sure it was stock that, i haven't actually checked to see if there is a backplate... =/

So , i'm not going to take it all out to see if there is a backplate, because its getting late and i have a serious case of cba... but with anyones experiance can they tell me from the pic, if there is a backplate or not?

there is a backplate on there! so when you change the motherboard just undo the screws take off the backplate and put it on the new motherboard!
