Well when windows install restarts to continue the install. I still getting bsod. And cant continue the install. I am At a lost what to do now.

So far I have

1. Checked Ram in dif slots and on its own. (separate sticks)
2. Tried dif cpu
3. Tried dif psu
4. Tried dif gpu
5. Changed about 1 billion settings in bios

All out of ideas the thing just wont boot.

Spoke to tech support they said to rma the board but I am still within 7 days so decided to rma it if they don't find a fault get a refund if they do find a fault change for another motherboard. Bit of a &^%£ paid sat delivery and now got to pay more to send it back.

tbh I think 2 but not 100% sure there are 2 sets of sata ports. Some gray ones and some black ones. One reads sata 6g and the other set sata 3g.

All drives are in the gray sata6g ports. 2 cd drives and 2 hard drives. Bare in mind the manual states to run optical drives in the sata3g if installing via disk. i tried via usb and disk so should in theory make no difference.

Also motherboard bios only show settings for one controller and detects all drives properly.

if you've already packed just let them test it

Ok probably the best option tbh as you can see I have done everything I possible can. Even if it did somehow work in the other sata ports the motherboard would be basically useless to me as only 2 sata 3g ports and 6 x 6g ports, and I need a min 4 ports.

Basically I have sent rma ticket. How good are OCUK at detecting faults?

I believe that the motherboard is faulty. I have spoken to tech support on the phone and they also believe that I have tried everything I could, and recommended I RMA the board. So I explained I am still within 7 day of buying the board and would it be possible to RMA the board and if they do not find a fault with the board to receive a refund instead, but if they find a fault receive a replacement.

Tech support said that this would be fine and no problems.

Not had to RMA items due to faults before so I am a little worried. Any idea how long takes for them to test it? As wana get this sorted before 7 days are up so I can get a refund if they somehow find no fault.

I wonder if the Gigabyte UD3 has same Voltage issues as the UD5/UD7. Gigabyte would have been my first choice. If someone could confirm that the UD3 dont have the same issues as the other Gigabyte boards I wonder if OCUK would switch them for me?

I just wish. I had some way to test the memory to be 100% sure. Don't wana send the motherboard back if it the memory. No point running memtest in the motherboard if the motherboard is faulty as this could cause false readings. Currently asking anyone I now if they have a DDR3 motherboard I can test the ram in.

If it helps my 990X EVO is rock solid using 2x4GB Corsair memory. Voltages are good with a mild overclock on a Phenom II 720BE.
Lovely board, must be a problem with yours.

That rules out compatibility issues :). So defiantly a fault in something. BTW I bought the ram with the motherboard.

One strange thing I noticed (not sure if relevant) but sometimes entering the bios it would not detect my mouse.

lol before ask yes did try dif mouse :).

I will do some more testing tomoz. Just see if i can make any progress is it worth running memtest? If the motherboard is faulty then that probably cause issues?

Progress the system boots in 32bit windows (slowly)but refuses to in 64bit? any ideas?

Been trying to get this to work since they arrived and tbh I have given up. Memtest don't seem to be giving errors also. Altho only 25% pass atm it normally within first 5 mins faulty ram would give errors.

No, no, no.

You have up to the end of 7 working days after the goods are delivered to notify the retailer of your intention to return them under the DSR.

You can actually send them back after that period as long as you've given notification within the 7 working days.

I have just sent a rma ticket requesting a refund for both the motherboard and the ram. I am disheartened, upset. I know sounds daft but i was actually in tears earlier my pc is my life. I pestered my wife for over a month to let me buy the items.

Sadly I have given up and may consider an upgrade in about 6 months time.

Wow this many posts and no one asked what BSODs OP is getting.

May I ask what BSOD(s) your getting as in stop codes please?

The ones that take the format 0x000000??

Can you give me the ones during all installs 32/64bit and W7/XP.

I cant the pc reboots before I get to read the first line, and I cant boot it to check error logs.

I have spoken to OCUK on the phone this morning. Returning both the ram and the motherboard for a refund later today. Sadly this been horrid experience. I will probably try again in a few months time when more info about bulldozer arrives. but until then if I so much as look at the inside of a pc again i will be sick.

I will probably get a gigabyte board and kingstone ram at a later date. Gigabyte would have been my first choice but the problems with voltages atm has put me off.

I know I may seem a bit upset over this. But when money is short and I cant only get 1-2 upgrades once in a blue moon it means a lot to me.

Edit: The motherboard and ram sent now should arrive Wednesday via secure delivery.
