Hello,

In the market for a new motor as of next Tuesday and thinking of heralding back to my TT days and going for another small sports car.

So far I dont really fancy another TT, and seriously considering a convertible, so realisticly looking at a Z4. Not certain on the Boxster as I do about 15k pa.

Anyway, I am looking at spending about 14-15k with no trade in. Cash purchase. What should I be looking out for, ideal age for this price? From looking at AT & Pistonheads it looks like a 55 / 06 for that, possible 56 / 07. Considering I have a slightly leadded right foot, I would ideally want the 3 litre, any reasons to chose the 2.5 over this?
What options are common, what would you recommend?
Is there any specific info I should know before looking, common faults etc?

Ideally, my options would be leather (is this standard on 2.5 & 3.0), Xenons, Climate and poss Sat Nav. What is the standard sound system like, or would you recommend looking for one with an updated system?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks,

Will

I certainly wouldn't buy a z4 if you are doing 15k miles because of the ride quality - not that I've ever been in one, I'm just going by some reviews I have read. Maybe an e90 coupe? not quite the same thing but would be much nicer on a motorway.

Theoretically this is true, but my commute is spent on A & B roads and having lived in a Mini GP for the last year the ride quality doesnt really concern me too much. :)

I find the 3 series a little boring ( I am sure that will offend some), plus have no real need for the space. I did put some thought into one about a year ago before buying the MINI, but decided then it wasnt the right car for me and dont think it is now.

Just generally looking for some advice on the Z4 them selves, things to look out for etc as in the OP. What information to have at hand when looking at a few?
