New Motor - What to go for

Well I am looking for a new car and wondering what I should go for.

I have two young kids with a third on the way so it needs to have a decent sized interior and boot. Limitations apply as I do not want an MPV.

Ideally looking for a diesel as I do a fair amount of miles.

I have narrowed it down to the following to give you an idea of my thinking but am still open to suggestions.

So far I am looking at

Nissan Primera
Skoda Octavia
Mazda 6

Price range is unknown at the moment. Ideally I am looking at about £5k but depending on a couple of things I could go to £15k.

Thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you're looking at the post '02 Primera then my advise would be don't! We've got a 2002 1.8 SVE Automatic at work with 67,000 miles that's falling to pieces. It's not nice to drive, it's got jelly suspension, an awful interior, dreadful gearbox and nasty harsh engine. It's just not a nice car at all! The seats are awful too and it drinks fuel
