New mouse emerges from MS Research Labs

These guys do come out with some zany stuff, the latest device is a capacitive touch mouse that goes beyond what Apple's Magic Mouse is capable of.

The price seems pretty good too @ $80

I wonder if Logitech will out something similar....otherwise I might jump ship! Well, for mice anyway lol!

edit: i just looked at that vid, she did not even know the guys name who she was interviewing plus the guy had to look down at his name tag.

Looks very clever and genuinely useful. Did we ever find out what sensor it has underneath?

Gestures are much easier and more intuitive I think. Plus, you can have many combinations of gestures with 3 fingers, but you can only have so many buttons, plus they're also directional. I quite like it.

Does look impressive though - like Khaaan said, will have to see if Logitech come up with something similar/better before changing teams...

what's wrong with buttons?

Apart from the way that every (insert expletive of your choice) mouse I've had since the advent of optical tech has been let down by the buttons.

I've gone through about 4 mice in 3 years and the current one (a logitech mx1100 I bought last year) is starting to doubleclick when I only want a single click...

Anything that either improves the buttons, or removes the completely gets my vote at this point.
