My current Razer DeathAdder has started double clicking when I only click once and its driving me nuts. It was a replacement to a previous DeathAdder that suffered from the same problem and I managed to get it (just) replaced within the warranty period.

Anyway, I'm looking to get a new mouse and whilst I love the DeathAdder, I dont really want another one to start playing up again. Plus it'd be good to spice things up :)

I was looking at the Roccat Kone+ which looks really good and seems to have glowing reviews, except that I've heard a few reports that the laser fails after a month or two and that Roccat's customer support is severly lacking.

I also thought about a couple of logitech mice (G500 and MX518) as they have a good reputation, but I just cant stand the way they look, and I have more of a claw grip and they look like they have quite a high back which is suited to palm grips.

So, if anyone could chime in with their thoughts on any of the above, or something else, that'd be ace. Like I said, I have a claw grip so something shaped like the DeathAdder would be nice or if I'm totally mistaken about anything I've said about the Roccat or Logitech's (or should I just get another DeathAdder??)

I know I sound really fussy about this (and I am!) but I do use the mouse a lot (modellign and compositing).

Price wise, I'd say no more than the Kone+.

Thanks

SteelSeries Xai? expensive and not very fancy though. I quite like the minimalist design, but not the price tag. Kinda like their mechanical keyboard.

The Kinzu looks like it's little optical brother, but why oh why does it have only three buttons... That's a no go area for me, I love the thumb buttons.

Dunno about the Roccat nowadays but had quality issues with the original kone. Was comfortable though. Buttons not as slopped as the Logitechs. about the same size and weight.

Xai should be slightly lighter.

Would love a Intellimouse Explorer 1.1 with an uprated sensor. Same size, weight and price, just better optical sensor :) Although I am used to the Logitech ergonomics, I'm really at home with a light mouse (MIE 1.1 is awesome in that respect).

Have you got the latest firmware installed? If not I'd suggest trying that out first or even uninstalling the drivers completely and see if it isn't a driver issue.

If that doesn't help then you may want to try opening the mouse and applying WD-40 to the right/left click (whichever one is double clicking). a lot of users have been experiencing the same problem and have found that this does the trick in most cases.

If all else fails then I'd recommend the G500 that Darkhadou mentioned as it's a great mouse and for ~£30 you can't go wrong. Plus Logitech have great customer service so in the unlikely event something does go wrong they will help you no problem whatsoever. I've even had Logitech send me a replacement G500 for my G5 that died after 3 years and was out of warranty, yet they still replaced it!

+1 I love mine.

For some reason I never thought to check if there were any driver updates. Well there are! Anyway, I've since uninstalled my current driver and done a clean install of the latest driver as well as a firmware update. Everything seems to be fine (touch wood!), but it has been sitting doing nothing for about 2 weeks so we'll see if it starts playing up again. And if it does then I'll have a look inside. Might as well since the warranty period has now ended.

Then if it all goes south, I think I'll go for the SteelSeries Xai. That mouse looks gorgeous! A bit hard to find though.

Big thanks for all of the suggestions!
