Hey,

My Gigabyte M6900 has decided to stop working. Actually, it's the scroll wheel that's suddenly given up the ghost, and unplugging it along with a reboot and firmware / driver update did nothing, so I guess it's time for a new one (corded only). The thing is, I'm a bit out of touch with gaming mice, so please advise me based on the following :

budget - none really, but no desire to spend beyond my requirements, eg. loads of buttons when I don't need them;

sensor - would prefer an optical (best for tracking AFAIK);

brand - don't mind - as I say, I'm out of touch;

buttons / weights - I normally use five button mice, but if there's something with one or two extra that I might use, then fair enough. Weights, I might consider;

(Before my M6900, I had a G5 and a Deathadder. The G5 had great build quality but I preferred the looks, ergononics and sensor of the adder).

So, what do you recommend?

Thanks. :)

Shame they don't have the MX518 anymore. Would have loved to try that out. I also quite like the look of the Razer Abyss / Mirror mice, though they would seem to be a bit on the basic side, even for me.

i have recently switched from an mx518 to a g400 and it is quite similar, although i prefered the mx518 unless thats just because i havnt got ised to it yet.

But i do rate the g400 and the afersales is excellent.

Replaced my Deathadder with a G400 after one of the buttons stopped working. Very pleased so far, and I've been using Razer mice for years.

I found the G5 a little high in terms of height for my liking, otherwise, it was pretty good. If I go for another Logitech mouse, I would ideally prefer it to be a tad lower.

Watching reviews atm. I think I'll discount the G300; probably wouldn't use the extra buttons anyway.

I was looking at SteelSeries but ended up going with the Mionix Naos. Really nice mouse to use.

Funny you say that, I was watching a review of the Mionix Naos only moments ago. Looks like a pretty good mouse. :)

Still haven't pulled the trigger yet, just in case someone or something changes my mind. :D

Ordered the Ikari. Looking forward to trying it out.
