New MP3 {layer and some good earbuds - suggestions?

I'm in the market for a new MP3 player and for once, I like the look the iPod 5g video players (iRiver IH120 owner atm ;) ).

I also know how notoriously crap the standard earbuds are that come with any player so I'm going to invest in a decent set.

I'm mainly concerned with high quality sound output :)

I've priced up:

iPod 5g Video 30gb
Super.fi 5 Pro headphones

£394 inc vat & delivery

Is this a good deal or would you recommend any alternative players/phones?
 
For that much money you could get an mp4 player with about 80gig of storage and a bigger screen. I assume video is important to you since you are willing to spend that much money for a video ipod when much cheaper better sounding mp3 players are avalible.

If video is important short of buying a full on PMP the creative vision:M is worth considering over the ipod.... I certainly would...Unless your going to put rockbox on the ipod and then I'll let you off :)

If video isn't as important then the samsung yh-j70 is worth a look imo. I have one and it's pretty darn good! But for ultimate sound quality (without an external amp) then the Kenwood HD20GA7 is what you want, but you will need to buy of ebay (probably from Germany thought so no extra duty).

As for Phones: The super.fi 5 Pro are excellent, total bargain for dual driver IEM's and considered the most 'fun' IEMs money buys. for that price only alternative imo would be the shure e4c, again an excellent phone, arguably slightly truer to the original source, but less bass focused than the SFP5. Also the EB's are worth considering if you really love your bass.

Wow! Yeah you're right - much cheaper than where I was looking for them. Which only goes to reinforce why I always post on OCUK asking stuff before buying :D

Video isn't a major must-have for me, I'd like it if they do it but I just liked the look of how thin the iPod 5g was. I'll have a look at the other players, but at the price for those phones, I'm probably going to go for those (they'll also got used for a PSP ;) )
