New MSI 670 power edition won't start

So I received my new 670 today, uninstalled my amd drivers (gpu ones) and then installed the card. It freezes on bios and doesnt recognise the keyboard, if I insert my amd card back in it launches windows normaly.

Does this sound like a faulty card? or should i try installing the nvidia drivers before installing the card?

the card starts and the fans go round so it is definitely working in that sense

list your pc parts

be sure to update to latest motherboard bios if you havn't already

it should work without any drivers,then once in windows install the NVidia ones

The card im trying to install is the msi 670 power edition, which lights up and sounds like its starting, but wont get past the bios screen, if I unpug all usbs devices it gets past bios but then says no keyboard and even if i plug my keyboard in it wont recognise it and just sits there

its just weird because the 7870 works, even after i installed its drivers

i cant get to the windows screen so i cant install the nvidia drivers unless i do it with my 7870 on board, or could i start it up without the 7870 directly from the motherboard vga port?

Did you pull the choke out ?

Doubt you'll know what I mean :D

Best just put the latest bios on the motherboard and make sure the slot settings are correct for the PCIEX.
 
The BIOS is a Basic In/Out Operating System, and it does not understand what you just plugged in.

Your card is probably 3 gen and unsupported, unless you can change some settings it will not work, check any settings related to Video, PCI
 
His MB supports 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 so card should work
maybe try clearing your bios then try
 
Tried clearing cmos? Tried resetting bios to defaults which tbh the cmos would do for you. Tried safe mode if it gets past post with f8 or somit?
 
clearing cmos seems a bit tricky to me, would that effect the fact that i flashed/updated my motherboard a few months ago when i upgraded from an fx 4100 to the fx 6300?

ill reset the bios and see what it does then?

I could start it in safe mode with the 7870, but with the 670 i literelly cant do anything, bios screen just hangs there and none of the keys work
 
Maybe its not seated correctly, double check that when u can.

Clearing cmos just basically resets the bios and checks what hardwares in at the time. Wouldnt affect anything like a bios flash update at all. Just helps adding new hardware sometimes if u get problems. Worth a go i think.
 
okay, so i would do that with the 7870 installed or the 670? or none? ill try and find a guide for my motherboard, only thing is i dont think i have the pin thingy to do it with, so i may have to remove the battery

Official guide on how to do it. Just make sure powers off, psu lead isnt in and press the power button on the case for discharge then should be good to go just make sure when side of case is off when doing it u touch somit to discharge urself too like psu or the metal case of the erm case.

Just if u do it dont put the amd card in. So either leave cards out or keep the 670 in.

Oh and maybe one thing is if its not been talked about yet. Use the onboard vga maybe and use a driver cleaner of sorts to remove all amd drivers from the comp before using the new nvidia one. Tho a normal uninstall of the amd stuff from add or remove programs section should have removed most of the important stuff so u could move to nvidia but u never know. If you have done this then nvm.
