NEED FOR SPEED 2017: AN OUTLOOK

Take a look under the hood of Need for Speed. We talk about tuning, offline experiences and about what awaits you in 2017.

Hello everybody!

We wanted to talk briefly about a topic that we know is as close to your heart as us ... the next Need for Speed .

By now, many of you have heard that we are working on a new game at Ghost Games. We are therefore pleased to announce the end of 2017 will be a new Need for Speed game.

We'll give you more details as soon as EA PLAY gets closer in June. Some details about different aspects of Need for Speed and their importance for you, for us as developers and for the Spielereihe altogether, but we can already give.

First of all, we would like to thank you. When we released the reboot in 2015, We were absolutely overwhelmed by how much feedback we received from you. Your passion for Need for Speed was obvious, which is one of the main reasons that we are here today.

Tuning - we love it, you love it, everyone loves it. What could not you love? So you can be sure that tuning has a fixed place in the Need for Speed range. It is preserved and will play an equally important role both in the next game and beyond. What could not you love? So you can be sure that tuning has a fixed place in the Need for Speed range. Okay ... let's talk about the cops. There is nothing more beautiful than to engage in a chase with the police and to feel them on the neck as you race through the city. You have the cops behind you, other drivers in front, and then - as out of now - BUMM! They use a Rhino unit during a road race. Is this to be understood?

No matter whether you try your freshly tuned car or ride the competition in an event in the canyons - you want to move around a world that is not only breathtaking, but also offers you the opportunity to do just that What you want. We bring the action to a new level and let you go on and off the road to heartbreak.

Drifting with a smoldering tire sideways through a curve and giving full throttle to escape the cops with an epic leap. We create the world, but nothing inspires us more than what you do in it.

Finally, let's come to one of the biggest discussion points in the predecessor game: Always-Online. To say that this issue is your heart, would be an understatement. And if there is a topic that attracts so much attention and feedback as this, we deal with it naturally.

So: When the next Need for Speed is released, you can expect a single game experience that you can play completely offline. And to answer the next question: Yes, that means you can pause the game.

Need for Speed looks back on an impressive story, and we at Ghost feel it as an honor and privilege to pass it on. You will soon hear more of us.

A common bright future.

i really hope its better than the last one..got bored real quick on that which was really disappointing. off road sounds interesting and thank god no more always online.

I really want a NFS of old like Hot Pursuit and High Stakes, I'm sick of all this underground tuning ********... Exotic cars on exotic tracks and an ambient electronica soundtrack are all I need.

I enjoyed last one in honesty also got a platinum on it, if love a full remake of underground 2 or most wanted (the original 360 one not the pants reboot under same name)

I picked the game up on one of the many EA PSN sales they have for like 75% off, and to be honest, I too enjoyed it and it was an easy game to 100% and get a platinum, I didn't even mind the online social features. But yes Most Wanted was a great game, got that free for my VITA few years back via a E3 EA promotion... and got the PS3 version via PS Plus.

I couldn't tell you, haha :D I haven't played it in like, 10 years or so :p

I remember enjoying it immensely. And the Impreza WRX sounded just like the real thing.

I can still picture my Fiat Punto on there... White with bright green wheels

Still got it installed on my HD :D Great title and fond memories of swearing at rozzers with rubberband AI :o

One of the best titles mate.. had some crazy police chases on there

"To the windooooooooooow, to the wall!"

Still one of my all time favourites, I'd love to see a reboot.

"Till all these bitches crawl"

:) :)
Man, when that intro dropped when I popped the game in and it loaded was one of those gaming moments that made me smile. The only NFS game that ever needed to exist IMO, loved everything about it.

Midnight Club LA back on the xb360 gave me the same vibe. it was pretty solid and that soundtrack was epic, one of the best game soundtracks ever

All they need to make is NFSU3, a true reboot of NFS2, update visuals and add modern day fluff and it'll fly off the shelves.

Can't see EA ever making a decent NFSU game because they'll load it with microtransactions and an 'online' element degrading the SP experience. Personally Most Wanted and NFSU2 hold fond memories for me, the latter of which I had some souped up Toyota Celica iirc!

Game description just leaked on the rainforest. It reads:

Need for speed, One of the world's bestselling video game franchises, returns with a vengeance in the new action-driving blockbuster need for speed payback. Set in the Underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your Crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against the House, a nefarious cartel that rules the City's Casino, criminals, and cops. In this corrupt gambler's paradise, the stakes are high and the House always wins. Play a variety of challenges and events as tyler, the racer; Mac, the showman, and jess, the wheelman. Each driver must take on races, missions, and challenges to earn the respect of the valley's underground and compete in the Ultimate race to finally take down the House. From insane Heist missions to devastating car battles to jaw cropping set piece moments, need for speed payback delivers an edge-of-your-seat, action-driving fantasy.

Probably not what people wanted but colour me interested. Looking forward to the reveal but as we've come to know with the NFS franchise, gotta keep expectations in check.

Nov 10th release based on the rainforest so seems like it will be out roughly same time as Scorpio.
