Hi, i have tried my z5500 in various parts of the house, but since about 4 days ago, i am getting this wierd kind of static sound every now and then, it lasts about 3 seconds when it happens and can happen on quite a regular basis, everything is connected so i dunno what it could be :s, any ideas?

I have heard they are sensistive to RF radiation (as are many computer speaker sets). This can come from intentional radio broadcast, but also from some kinds of electrical equiptment if they are close enough. Is it now placed nearer to a device that utilises a high power motor, such as a washing machine/dryer? One of ours starts and stops quite fequenctly like you describe in one of it's modes. Alternatively, is someone using power tools near your house? Also possible for mobile phones to cause interference, but that tends to be a clearer buzzing tone.

is it just one speaker?

my front left connector was doing this (no matter which speaker i connected to it, and even with headphones plugged in) changing the mode to optical or coax stopped it, so it only happens in 6channel mode

i'm in the process of returning them now (they come with a 2 year warranty)

btw, i phoned logitech at first, explained the problem (does it even with no sound input connected to the unit) they said "explain this to your supplier and they will sort out a replacement for you"

have to send the buggers back though!

i contacted overclockers about it, no reply tho..., when this static stuff happens, it is with all 5 speakers and sub, no no one was using power tools or anything as far as i know, it was 4 in the morning, it's very unusual, since this wierd noise has been happening my wireless mouses on my main computer dont seen to be working properly too :s, yet i have the z5500 downstairs for a tempory amount of time.
