I know quite a few others on here quite like the photo insights into North Korea. Loads of new photos just been put up on Boston -

NK seems to be opening up a bit in the last year, especially to China and Russia. It is weird as 99% of the country is 40+ years behind but they get odd new tech in, such as laptops and LCD TVs. They claim to have made them but they are obviously just imported from China. Info from www.northkoreatech.org

No 52 looks weird, completely lifeless and dull for a town centre.

Yeah and no electricity or anything. You have to wonder how many of those are empty. I think a lot are in a bad state due to being made from concrete which only lasts for so long.

Some of the mountains and scenery looks great however.

Funny how people see fit to pass judgement over NK when all they get is OUR propaganda, selectively shown to us.

We have NO idea of what it is really like there, apart from a few tid bits every now and again. How about looking back to WWII when you had pictures of Gorillas in Nazi helmets with blood all over their hands depicting the Germans ..... acurate portrayal?

Before anyone casts judgement, be aware you are making your assertions based on hand selected information. Do you think these 'amazing' photos were taken by a completely objective photographer?

Imagine if you took some photos of London in flames last month, and then some glasgow council estates, and finally some pictures of the Army torturing innnocent Afgan/Iraqi prisoners and used that to portray the UK - We'd be up in arms eh.

What point are you trying to actually make?

I saw these pictures a few days ago, very very fascinating. I can't help but think if I had the money, which I do not, I'd seriously consider going there, even if you are watched & minded everywhere. It just looks so fascinating.

I don't think it costs a huge amount. I gather the easiest way in is via China.

China isn't exactly in the Benidorm-level cost department to get to itself you know :p

Well yeah its £400 ish rather than £40 but not talking 'thousands' to get there. Surprised there isn't a package deal for us weirdos that want to go to rubbish places like this :)

It seems that flickr account is linked to a group which has 13,000 photos on it - http://www.flickr.com/groups/dprk/pool/page1. Never seen so many of NK before. Must have relaxed the rules a little, as I read several times people have had their cameras taken off them before.
