new nursery time MAJOR PC RANT

I remember my daughter being taught the rhyme ''The farmer want a life partner'' :D

Are you serious? :p

It is mad when people cannot say traditional nursery rhymes really, and for that matter, if people cannot say things which are clearly unoffensive.

How is "baa baa black sheep" offensive? Surely replacing the adjective with "wooly" would be equally offensive to sheep with wool on them?

Well its just like Nurseries have had to have black dolls, and white dolls to offer a selection for the children  PC Madness

im sure they also now have to 'celebrate' all religous / other beliefs holidays.

Oh my god.(is that offencive?)

When i have kids it will be ba ba black sheep all the way,i dont see the point in shielding kids from everything even although i didnt distinguish between white people and black people till i was in primary 7 when i got a telling off for calling a black girl in my class a '******' because my mate told me to.....that when i realised.

Kids should have to deal with reality and base their future believes on that. My wee cousins are brought up vegetarians but my auntie told them it was there choice what they wanted to eat when they understood it all better.

I've got two kids. It's Baa Baa Black Sheep as far as I'm concerned. Always was and always will be. I don't personally believe the origins to be racist as I think the song is older than that. But even if it did originate from slavery then it's still not going to change my mind. The song is part of my (and therefore my children's) heritage.

I can't wait until my children get told some kind of PC nonsense like this as I'll be straight up the school/nursery. Especially as they are mixed race (hard to tell though as they look white with a very slight tan - perfect for surprising PC nonsense teachers :))

This is MY country and MY heritage. I'll bring up my kids MY way thank you very much.

I can't believe how pathetic things are becoming.

How many racially diverse (seeing as black is now becoming a term with racist connotations) people have complained about this nursery rhyme and other similar things to anybody? Not many I bet. Just some limp-wristed idiots thinking that running our lives for us is better than if we do it ourselves. Meh!

I wonder where this will all be in a decade from now? Not worse, surely?

My mother in law is a teacher.
She still sings baa baa black sheep, but does other verses with other colours.
My favourite has to be "baa baa stripy sheep, have you any wool? No.... I'm a zebra" :D

Baa Baa Black Sheep hasn't been banned and nobody from the black community asked for it to be banned. Once again it is white councillors telling us all what they think blacks want. The 'banning' of it is totally down to teachers, nursery staff etc.

When my wife was childminding in the late 80's we had a woman come round to see if everything was in order. I got in from work and the wife said that she had gone through every drawer and cupboard and was now back upstairs. A few minutes later she came down and started blurting out her findings. We had got no literature on minorities and there were no black dolls. I lost my temper a bit and the doorbell went. At the door was the father of a child that was crawling on the floor in the living room and he was out of sight of the woman.
I shouted "Come in Paul and get your son, theres a woman here who thinks we've got problems with *******". (My wife had her head in her hands)
Paul walked round the corner and the pen pusher went white because he's black as coal and talks with a Pottery/Scouse accent. His lad however is just a little bit tinted and the woman never noticed.
She went out with her tail between her legs and my wife got her certificate.

Just goes to show how insanely PC our country has become - somethings seriously wrong here people ! !

We're so far ****** up we're afraid of offending anyone - freedom of speech?

Last time i checked we're living in a democracy here, and to think i get labeled a racist because of:-

A) My signature

B) Defending my right to my own personal point of view, in my own ******* country

Please take note, no sweary words have been used in the assimilation of this forum post, my signature is now of the correct size - you've now no reason to suspend me again huh ?

just a little bit of an update on this thread,

Since my first post about the god awful nursery and their PC tosh our two have now moved to a much more homely nursery, tis slightly more pricey(1160 a month for the 2 of them) but no PC crap, and what seems to me a much better learning environment, much more old skool :)

oh and we were not alone, As far as i know at least 8 other parents have voted with their feet too.

nice to see the PC brigade loosing out for once

Baa Baa Ethnically Diverse Sheep, have you any wool?

No sir because I live in a hot climate and the infidels shaved it off so as I could be comfortable in the blistering heat.

Come on, give the black sheep a break.
