My previous 7950GX2 would get 9899 in 3DMark06 whilst I seem to get 8834 with my 8800GTS. I'm happy enough with the switch though as I now have DX10 finctionality and haven't noticed any in-game frame loss (or increase). I haven't figured out how to overclock my card in x64 Vista though as nTune doesn't seem to have unlocked anything in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Vista drivers always use to be able to get about the same in 3dmark06. The issue was always game performance especially with AA enabled.

Edit:

Just did my own test, CounterStrike Source Stress Test. Max settings in both XP and Vista (16x Anis, 8xMSAA all other settings set to High Quality .. complete Max). Resolution 1680x1050 and no graphics card overclock.

XP: 163.48fps
Vista: 104.24fps

Still losting nearlly 60fps between operating systems. Not good enough nVidia.

With Vista Ultimate x32, running the CS:S stress test I get 126.07fps @ 1680*1050.
7950GX2, with settings all maxed in game.
Using the latest beta drivers.

Turn on anti-aliasing.

Might just be a G80 problem but it massivly screws the framerate.

AA is on, got it set to 4XMSAA (highest it will go, in game that is).
Anisotropic set to 16X.
Everything else maxed.

Nvidea control panel I set to CS:S profile just for that particular test, as I usualy just set them myself, and it's roughly the same with or without the profile.

Edit
In fact, it's exactly the same without using the profile, with my own personal settings in nvidea control panel.

I dont think its possible to get a bsod in vista from display drivers due to the way display drivers access the kernal in vista.

If I rememeber one of the advantages of vista is that games should never lock up a system again, and should only crash to the desktop instead of taking the whole system down with it requiring a reboot.

Just tried BF2 with it, and it's a mess to be honest.
Judders all over the place.

Half Life 2 plays ok though, nice and smooth on that.

Will have a play around later this afternoon and see if I can sort it out, if not it's back to XP yet again :(

Ok, used the BF2 profile, and it works ok now.
Smooth enough as it is on XP.

Will install BF2142 later on, see how that plays.

Gotta go out now though.

I wonder why Windows said it didnt reconise the publisher, even tho these are certified

Anyway, loaded the nVidia control panal I can already see a big difference, on the 100 drivers the panal took like 30 seconds to load, I cant bench with them yet because I have to d/l 3dmark again.
