New Nvidia Card Needed

Hi guys,

Just wondering if somebody could recommend me a new graphics card? I've not upgraded my PC in a few years, so I'm a little out of the game.

My current setup is:
i5-3570k
8gb Corsair 1600mhz memory
XFX Pro 850W PSU
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Motherboard
EVGA GTX570 Superclocked (1280mb, CPU Clock Spd: 797mhz)

I only really play one game (Path of Exile), which seems to be quite demanding on my card. The developers of the game, have just released an expansion, and despite setting all of the graphics settings to their lowest, I'm only getting 5-10 fps on the new final boss fight. I like to play hardcore mode, where death is punishable, as you can imagine low fps isn't ideal.
During the boss fight, using GPU-Z I can see my card's GPU load reaches 99%, and the temperature reaches 102'C. So I'm fairly certain it's the gfx that's bottlenecking me.

I prefer Nvidia cards, as I've had driver issues in the past using Ati cards with this game.

My max budget is £550, but I would prefer to spend less if I can get away with it. I would be really grateful to hear everyone's advice :)

If you have a budget of £550, the GTX 980 Ti is the obvious choice. It's actually well priced per it's performance. Whereas the GTX 980 is not. The next tier below the 970 is also a well priced card per it's performance.

Personally think if you have the money the 980 Ti is the card to have atm. I would go for that. OCUK have some good deals on 980 Ti's starting from £499.

Here is a bench between a 580 ( 570 isn't available on the list) and a 970.

As you can see its considerably faster, it will use less power and be much quieter and cooler running.

As booms suggestion above here is the cart 580 vs 980ti.

GTX 980 Ti's @ OCUK. (They all come with Batman Arkham Knight as well)

At the end of the day it is your money and you have to decide just how much you want to spend. Personally buying a 980ti if you only play one game at the moment (path of exile) seems like a bit of a waste.

My self I would get a 970, in fact I have one my self so I'm a bit biased. I believe Boom has a 980ti so I cannot say as I blame him recommending that card. (if I had the money I'd have one myself).

Any of the suggestions will do what you want them to do and more, it is just down to how much you want to spend. :)

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Looks like a toss up between the 970 and 980ti then. I do only game at 1920x1080. I suppose in a way it might be best to shell out for the more expensive card. I'd like to say I have plans of playing GTA, but I also planned to play the first Witcher, and I'm still playing PoE :)

GTA 5 will run fine on a 970 and the first witcher will play fine on a piece of cardboard.

GTX 980 Ti and Witcher 3 is a beautiful thing :D

Can max it out no worries @ 1080P. I think the 980 Ti from £499. Monster performance, fair price.

If you have the money I would go for it. I've tried them all, I can vouch for the 980 Ti.

*EDIT* just seen you went with the 970. Enjoy (:

+1 boet I mean bru

New card is very nice. Thanks guys :) Just redone the last boss on Path of Exile, GPU load hovered around 30% with a max temp of 62'C. Very impressed. I died, but I couldn't blame the PC this time!

It's a bit weird not having the fans spinning, if they hadn't put a sticker on the front that says "Fans only engage under load", I would have assumed they were broken.
