New nVidia drivers coming

Aha while i have 2 most learned beans at hand, might one enquire as to a piffling little annoyance i am finding with this terrific ssd thats come into my possession?
It would seem the general opinion is to allow a piffling amount of free unallocated space on said drive so the drive can use it to speed up performance et al.
So fresh out of the box its 80g shows up as 72 (those rotters at intel have been pickpocketting ssd space again) so if i created a prtition of say 63 gig would one consider that ample?
Oh fubar i cant do this posh bit to any convincing degree - so what ya reckon duz that sound right teamies?

To tell the truth Toxic I can't help you with that one as I've never had the privilege of owning/using a SSD, although a quick scout around on t'internet shows mixed results: some say you need to have unallocated space, others say you don't. Still others say it depends on what make/model the SSD is... So in short, sorry but I can't provide any answers :o

As for the 72GB on an 80GB disk business, that's all down to the fact that 1kb = 1024 bytes :)

Cheers for the input guys, to heck with it will format the lot if it slows down over time i know what to do, at £2 per gig i want as much as i can get lol :D

I take it were all downloading wu's :D:D

If you use the whole lot you can theoretically wear out the drive quicker. In which case, make sure it wears out within 2 years for warranty purposes :p

Re the OP in this thread. Not sure if it was the drivers but shortly after installing them my machine wouldn't boot up and bluescreened itself to death. Only way back was a system restore point from before the drivers were installed.

:eek::eek:

Im steering clear of these ones then..

Not sure about seti but folding performance seems to be well down on the 260.89 drivers. I've been running them for almost a week and am thinking of rolling back. :(

Sorry to hear that, Biffa. I had them sitting in the downloads folder for a while now, just waiting for a good time to slap them on. I shall steer clear for now, considering all other issues I had this week. -_-'

Having checked my stats if would appear they have slowed me down by 2-3 seconds per frame, so I have rolled-back.

Roll back didn't work:mad: Probably because I forgot to turn off afterburner.
Seemed ok but was taking double the usual time per frame overnight:(
Reinstalled this a.m. & touch wood seems ok
