I haven't had to update nvidia drivers for several years due to not having a nvidia card :p these days do I have to uninstall first still or can I just install 'over the top'. It is a 650m on win 7 x64 if it matters. They're working fine, just six months old or so.

Download the new drivers, proceed to install and select custom install, tick the box to perform a clean installation. This will remove the previous driver. Been doing it like this for ages now without any issuers.

When you install the drivers they give you a clean install option you can tick.....;)

I just install over the top, have installed over the top of many drivers (official and beta) and never had an issue.

The only time I ever do a clean driver install is if there is an issue, and that's occurred extremely rarely for me. Not once in the last 2yrs at least.
