It really depends on how long you want to wait. If you're willing to wait a about a month, a time at which OcUK will begin to use the new GPUs in their pre-built rigs, then you can have a faster machine for less money. If you don't feel like waiting it's a good machine now. :)

Well, I've decided to take this offer up on the pre-built system...

But the warantee/gurantee is a concern to me, would "this week only offer" be running tomorrow on sunday still? Their phone lines are now closed for the night, not sure if they are tomorrow so I might lose out on the price.

Anyone have any info atall on the gurantee/warantee? or speculate for me or anything to help me out here?

Thanks again!

This Week Only runs from Wednesday to Wednesday so Sunday would be fine for ordering provided they still have stock.

I don't know about the warranty, I'd guess at a 1 year Return To Base as that is pretty standard but as Billy says the best bet is to contact OcUK when they are open if you want to be certain. :)

Sorry for going on here, but could anyone please provide their personal opinion on this PC against buying somethin in a similar price range £850-£1000 Part by part and building it myself.

I mean, is it worth it and would you reccomend anything else?

I don't know how much help this will be but I've only ever bought one pre-built PC and the rest I've put together myself (excluding laptops of course) and I prefer the freedom of choice that comes with building myself. I get exactly the PC I want with no extras that I don't need or want, I get a feeling of satisfaction from the building and I'll frequently have saved some money as well.

If you aren't confident about building a PC (which is very easy nowadays) or simply don't have time then it can make sense to buy pre-built, particularly at the lower end of the market. However here we can only really recommend PCs that OcUK sell, advertising competitors is against the rules in the FAQ. :)

so you save yourself 3 quid by building it yourself- assuming that the postage on the full system would be the same as the postage on the parts.

that is provided that I didn't mess up when putting that together

I'd personally drop the PSU and hard drive down to slightly more reasonable models e.g. Corsair HX 520w/620w saving a minimum of ~£50, the hard drive for a 500gb model which saves about £100 minimum and if you need 1tb then buy a second. I'm also not overly keen on 1tb drives as your only drive just as a matter of principle as it is a lot of data to risk losing if the drive dies.

You are right however that you can save a fair bit of cash by building it yourself. :)
