New nvidia mid-end cards

It would be funny if someone upgraded from the 8800gts to a 9800gtx to a gts 250. Can easily see that happen.

Fill in the missing blanks for epic e-peen.

To be fair, renaming to a lower performance bracket isnt quite as bad as the move from 8800gt/s to 9800gt/x.

What a waste of time. If they named them like this in the first place, they would actually be releasing new cards....

Off-topic - Just RMA'd a 8800GTS 640MB to eVGA, what card do you think ill get back?

I can imagine plenty of people upgrading a 2 year old 8800GTX for a 250 :(

I can't see why nvidia are releasing so many cards these days with little improvment on the last. How many weeks ago was it that a GTX 260 192 was a lot of money and a GTX 280 was a stupid amount of money? Now they are both pretty much obsolete.

They make a lot of money from this
Anyone who is perceived to be making money in an unethical fashion is basically shooting themselves in the foot!

You see as a consumer it's quite important that the company you are feeding your cash £££ too basically isn't trying to rip you off! :(

I got a lot of respect for the bOffins @ nVidia but the suits really need to go!

AMD/ATI are in touch with what the people want, nVidia can kiss my hairy *** :D

It is a cheap trick and it is wrong plain and simple they are going after the ignorant parent type looking to buy their kids a decent system that will see a nice high number and think they are getting new tech rather then what it actually is.

This seems to be the policy for nvidia rather then try and innovate or compete squarely with Ati it is a sad state of affairs for nvidia and is part of the reason so many are taking up Ati cards the suits simply don't care about looking after the customer they are more interested in milking old stuff for new money not something that will do them good in the long run.

I would prefer to see nvidia cut the number of cards they offer make the market more transparent and get back to competing on innovation and good design rather then smoke and mirrors as that is better for all customers to have two vibrant companys doing their best to out do each other in terms of performance and price. I can't believe nvidia are struggling this hard to counter Ati they were so far ahead and now they look like they are out of ideas.

I may be an Ati user now but for the last 12 years i used nvidia exclusively so no fanboy accusations i simply want two company's both making good products that will keep competition and innovation alive it is never good when one company has the advantage for too long as i believe that is what has hit nvidia so hard now.
