hi, ive been reading these forums for a while now and i can usually find an answer for every problem i have, but in this case i can not find an answer, so any help will be appreciated!

I recently bought some ocz el ddr platinum 2gb, im using it on an abit an8 fatal1ty mobo. my problem is that with both sticks of ram in the board the spd reports the ram at running at ddr200 and cpuz reports the same. any attempt i make to run it at ddr400 stops the pc from posting even at 2.8v. i can run it at ddr333 tho with no problems. If i use just 1 stick of ram it runs at ddr400 no problem also. what i have noticed tho is that 1 sticks spd has spd timings of 2 3 2 5 ddr400 and the other is 2.5 3 2 5 ddr400. which i think is rather weird.

Is there something i am missing or is the ram faulty/incompatable.

Many Thanks

I sounds like one stick is faulty, or there might be a mobo incompatibility there mate. Can you try the ramsticks in different slots both singly and together. Also if you can try them in a different mobo and see what spd timings are reported. One last thing to try is forcing the timings in the bios, setting the timings manually to 2-3-2-5 and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies!

I have tried manually setting the timings and all is fine except it wont run above ddr333. Even using slack timings it still wont post at ddr400 using both sticks. in cpu-z i noticed the manufacturing code was different and when i looked them up in google i noticed that 1 stick was single channel stuff OCZ4001024ELPE and the other was the correct dual channel stuff OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K.

ill post in the official forum tonight also and ill report my findings

many thanks

sorted now thanks guys.

found out there are certain timings for the an8 fatal1ty when using ocz ram. Totally different to the spd timings that would have taken me days of testing to find out myself.

again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
