New Official XBOX Controller from MS with Improved D-pad

WTF.....

So you release a new console, with the old pads. then release new pads overpriced not long after. Nicely done, I guess thats 1 way to attempt to milk the consumer
 
Why are people moaning about the price it's the US price not UK and it is only 5 dollars more then the standard pads rrp in the US.

I like the colour but I don't understand why they would choose a silver finish unless they are planning on releasing a silver console people are picky about colours not matching up.

The most stupid thing is why we have to wait 4 months for it to come out here and bundling it with the pc bridge would have been nice.
 
Dang I hate Microsoft. Only cos I know I'm going to have to shell out $65 for one of these come Nov... One thing i will say is I do wish they took the ingenuity to have made this change for the release of the slim...

They're just following the example of Sony when they launched the PS3. Didn't the PS3 at launch not come with DualShock controllers?
 
Prefer the style of the old pad so I won't 'upgrade' not really any point as I find the d-pad fine for everything I play. I wouldn't touch it for fighting games but I'd just use my arcade stick for those.

I have the 360 S pad, which is basically the black pad that came with the elite with some very slight alterations.

That was down to the whole 'Immersion Corporation' patent infringement in regards to the vibration technology at the time, while MS settled out of court Sony contested it and lost which was why the PS3 was initially released with controllers that didn't have vibration.

I don't get what happened to the D-pad. I was playing Halo 2 the other day and the original XBOX S pad has a much better D-pad, why didn't they use it?
 
Bit on the pricey side, but i guess folk who really use the d-pad a lot it will be worth it. Also, what's with the colour scheme? They release a brand new console, then release a brand new controller, with different colour schemes :confused:

Other companies do it = fine and hardly anyone complains.

MS do it = "I HATE MS /rage moar"

If it wasn't ready for the consoles release, it wasn't ready. We should be happy they at least fixed it (about time...)

The only thing I dislike is that it's only available with play and charge kits.

Oh wells.

Should be noted though, I've barely played on my 360 recently - I've been mostly on my PS3. :p
 
Just been feeling up the existing d-pad on the xbox controller.. Funny enough, we all probably never use it, so i took a bigger look on its positioning.. Its too far over to the right.. Your thumb is too stretched out in my opinion. Plus I have big hands.. For a smaller handed player its going to be real uncomfortable. Probably doesn't exist on the right analogue stick because it's much higher and less distance to get your other thumb onto it..

They should have shifted it a little to the left to complete..

Ahh but hang on, they can do that next yr, and get us all for another $65
 
Can't remember the last time I used the D-pad so this would be a total waste of money for me. Plus the colour scheme looks skanky. I'll stick with my black new xbox controller :)

About time.

Ive been playing Tekken on PS for years...when I played it on Xbox..i cant believe how much it sucks..because of the d-pad. One of my biggest drawbacks about getting an xbox is that I cant play Tekken on it. Hopefully with this new design, (although the new Razor looks pretty interesting too..) it will make it more like the PS d-pad.
 
I do like the D Pad option. It is a nice touch and despite it being the wrong colour , it does look a nice gamepad. Be nice to grab one for a PC, as I hardly use my xbox360 anymore.

I’m more looking into the PS3 move, I seem to have, and I don’t know how ended up back on my PS3 and the xbox360 is gathering dust.. And to think I was considering a 360 slim, but decided to dust the PS3 off and give it one more chance… Glad I did, I can play nearly all 360 content on my PC with exception to a few games, yet the PS3 is in a class of its own when it comes to peripherals and exclusive games.

Happy to admit I was a tad wrong about the PS3, but I digress.. MS new pad looks good, I want to pick one up for my PC…. Lol Pricey as it might be, I like it.

And just what is actually happing with MS new kinect thingy?? I’ve heard nothing but PS3 move at the moment… Has MS finally got themselves a white elephant? They did have a good run I guess…
 
I'm surprised Major Nelson could do the D-pad what with his limp wrist. :D

Ahem. I hope they bring this modified version out as a wired peripheral too.
