Hi

Im new to the overclocking scene and have had a go at overclocking my cpu and ram, could you take a look at my figures and give your opinion :)

My setup is :

E6320

CPU Frequency 3.02 ghz
FSB 430mhz
CPU Voltage 1.4625 volts

Geil DDR2 ULL 6400 2gb

DRAM Frequency 860
Timings 4 - 4 -4 -12
DRAM voltage 2.0v

Also using a Leadtek 8800GTS 320mb at stock speeds, an old Barracuda 7200 200gb P-ATA HD ( im thinking this is a bottleneck on performence? ) all
running on Vista Home Premium 32bit

Looking forward to hearing from you :)

Not too bad.

The vcore's a little high for 3ghz. Shouldn't really need more than 1.45v for 3.2-3.3ghz.

Have you tried 450x7 yet? You might need to loosen your memory timings a little if the Geil doesn't fancy 900mhz.

Ok

FSB 450 , cpu running at 3.15ghz , dropped the vcore to 1.45 , ram didnt like it so adjusted to 5 -5 -5 -16 atm will try and bring it down and see what happens

I'd go for 460mhz, then 470mhz before twiddling with your timings.

Tho the memory might hit a wall before 470mhz.

RAM didnt seem to like the higher FSB , so atm i seem to have found a happy medium of :

CPU 3.15 ghz FSB 450

RAM 900 FSB , 5 - 4- 4 - 12, up'd the dram voltage to 2.1v

seems stable so il stress test it then play again, thanks for your help btw

yeh i found that my geil ultra 6400 ram doesnt like going over 900mhz. I suppose i could try and up the dram voltage and loosen timings even more but i'm happy with it at 3.1ghz at the moment at 1.250 volts. Super stable and runs very cool aswell, at 21/22 idle and 36/38 load.
