New PC - 1K

Hi,

I need to refresh my 7 year old PC, I have a Lian Li PC-V1100 case which I'll keep as well as a dell 24" monitor (1920 x 1200), the rest needs to go though.. I want to keep things as close to 1k as possible, can anyone suggest changes/improvements etc on the items below?

I don't play a huge amount of games, the system will be partly gaming but also to run VMware workstation & a number of virtual machines.

Get the 2500k CPU, the ram will probably interfere with the CPU cooler, due to the heatsinks on the ram modules.

Also look for a slightly better psu, the BeQuiet good, but a member posted part of a review which showed the 12v line did not give a huge amount of power.

I'd drop the revodrive and get a 2600k for the extra cores that will help with the VM stuff.

Thanks, the only other thing to say is that it has to sit inside a cabinet (rear of cabinet is open) due to lack of space and to keep the girlfriend happy (!).. Because of that temps are pretty important, I don't want to go for components that are going to increase temps whilst not necessarily giving a notable performance boost

2700K generally requires less vcore than the 2600K or 2500K on a moderate overclock say around 4.6GHz so produces less heat.
MSI GTX 560Ti Twin FrozR III 1280MB runs cooler and draws less power under load than the MSI GTX 560Ti Twin FrozR II 2048MB and is on par performance wise with the GTX 570.

VM Ware = Sandybridge-E + 32GB RAM
Wont fit in budget though.

Thankfully this is just a home build, VMware will run a few test labs, nothing too demanding so 16GB should be fine. Cheers for the tips
