So, I'll be going to uni this autumn...and want a set up good enough to last me at least the 3 years of uni without any major upgrades to it...I have a rough idea of what I want/could get...but want more opinions...I was going to go for something like this ** No Competitors ** (not that case, I want the Game Max Onyx, but couldn't find it on that website and chose something similar just for the sake of it)...but feel free to modify it the way you feel it would be a better value.(won't buy it soon anyways, more like in august-september)

I guess one primary use would be gaming?
And could see it also used for watching videos/movies....
I mean PC can do everything TV and those other media devices can do without needing separate devices.

Anyway if not buying soon basically it's futile to use current pricing for any kind base of part choises.
And graphics card side is absolutely total crapshoot in what kind availability and pricing of anything will be by then.

But certainly you don't want three separate DIMMs, but dual channel kit like 2x8GB.
While actual performance difference isn't much in everything, why would you want to halve available memory bandwidth with odd nubmer of DIMMs?

And while Intel has advantage over Ryzen in most games Zen+ CPUs with some tweaks in design and manufacturing process aren't far away.
With some increase in max clock speeds and improvements in cache/memory latencies difference to Intel in single thread performance might decrease notably.
Also current AM4 socket is going to be used untill 2020 so in two years there might be decently faster CPUs available without need to swap lots of parts.
(while Intel makes people buy new motherboard without real changes in CPU)

Though of course if not intending to buy everything at once in many peripherals you could look for good discounts and such.
Those don't really become technically obsolete like many PC parts.
Some of them keep their value for very long time like sound reproduction.
(besides 360 direction good headphones give good sense of distance when combined to binaural sound)

Also have you experience from mechanical keyboards? (and their noise?)

Computex will throw a lot new stuff out their and just as your about to go to uni your should see some new GPU hardware. Also... A new ASIC miner being launched soon that should put amateur mines out due to increasing the mining difficulty not long after its £11k release .
Team Group ram looking nice too :D

Is a monitor going to be included in the price (to lazy to look at list )

Hi,

Go with Ryzen Threadripper. I put the entry for this platform CPU, once you get used to it, you can further upgrade to more powerful CPU that will be released in the future.
I put quad-channel DDR4 3200 memory with up to 32GB and 500GB M.2 super-fast SSD.
All this with a bargain graphics card with 8GB GDDR5, and a state-of-the-art 3840x2160 monitor for the best visual experience:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,353.87 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Please just stop with the nonsense builds. Are you seriously suggesting that the op spends £2400 on a system with an RX 570 in it  First off you don't even know what he is using the pc for so why suggest an overpriced cpu ? And once again you pair an underpowered gpu with a 4K monitor. And 32GB Ram is also overkill unless he is doing extreme workstation stuff.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

What are you going to be using the pc for ?

Do you need a full system i.e Tower, Monitor, Mouse/Keyboard, Speakers and headset etc ?

Better than spending 1000 pounds or exactly half of the budget on the GTX 1080 Ti. You have no clue :D

Except I wouldn't spec a GTX 1080 ti in a £2500 build if the op required a full setup i.e Monitor and everything else with it as you would be sacrificing other areas. Also if I had no clue I would spec a system like you did ;)

depends, i studied Creative Computer Games Design - had twin Althon 64 X2 and SLI 6800 ultra for studies (2005) whilst my friend had a basic laptop for Primary Ed

different systems for different needs :)
