Before anyone starts.. Yes, this is basicly the same PC as spec'd in this months CustomPC..

A collegue wants a new PC that can do mild gaming (Oblivion is the most advanced game he plays) and will be quick at encoding video. He also wants 2TB of data storage.

Here's my suggested build.

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz
Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
Asus GeForce GTS 250 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Retail
OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 Dual Channel
2 x Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply
Compro VideoMate Vista T750F Dual DVB-T Hybrid Internal PCI TV Tuner
Coolermaster Elite 330 Midi Tower Case
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler
LG GH22NP20 22x DVD±RW IDE ReWriter

Any comments, thoughts or exchanges? I'm particularly light on knowledge of TV cards - he wants a dual DVB-T capability so I just chose the cheapest!

the case is very cheap and nasty and not much room inside poor airflow and very little cable management room
for a little bit extra money get the antec 300 case.

Damn - didn't notice I'd used an IDE drive. Changed!

I think I'll leave the case selection to the owner - I just chose a cheap one but he has his eye on a Lian Li PC-A05 now :)

would you not be better off paying about 30 quid more and getting an ATI 5770 graphics card ?

low power, decent performance, DX11 compatability etc etc
